Homeschool Schedule.jpg

Our family spends about 5 hours per day on our homeschool lessons/projects. I know. Some of my homeschool friends just GASPED at the idea of FIVE hours per day, especially since most families spend considerably less time on their formal studies. But here's the deal: I can't figure out how to shorten our days! We ENJOY diving into our history and science lessons (as well as our writing, art, and Spanish lessons), so why cut things short in order to be done by noon?! After 6 years of homeschooling, I'm - finally! - content to chart our own course. (For this mama who used to agonize over whether she was doing everything "right," that's such a glorious declaration of FREEDOM!)

So our family has found a groove, a perfectly exquisite (and often chaotic) FIVE-HOUR groove. BIG YAY!!! But, I always encourage other homeschooling families to find their own grooves. The only reason I'm sharing our "schedule" below is because folks ask for it... and "schedule," by the way, is a loose term in our house... we are by no means beholden to the spreadsheet. ;-)

PLEASE DO NOT LET OUR SCHEDULE INFLUENCE YOU IN ANY WAY. Take a peek if you're curious... check out other people's schedules if you're a researcher... but then sketch YOUR OWN PLAN, according to the unique needs and desires of your family. (I wish I'd had the courage to do this earlier in our homeschool journey!) Carve your own path, sweet friends, and don't get sucked into the comparison game. Only YOU can know what's best for your kiddos, whether that's 2 hours, 5 hours, or 10 hours!

Ok, now that I'm off my soapbox, please feel free to download the following PDFs if you're interested in the specifics of our 2020-2021 plans. ;-)
